Scope:
The main aim of the proposed ARW is to bring together specialists from the field of Mössbauer spectroscopy to discuss methodological aspects as well as application of the method to selected areas of material research. Topics comprising A. Materials and Properties including Nanocrystalline and Amorphous Systems, Metals and Alloys, Magnetism, Minerals and B. Methods including Conversion Electron Mössbauer Spectroscopy, Synchrotron Radiation, and Other Techniques and Data Evaluation will be covered. One of the goals of the ARW is the dissemination of information on research and recent developments in leading Mössbauer laboratories. In addition, current trends and perspectives will be outlined. A round table discussion on the data elaboration and choice of fitting models will be a part of the scientific program.
Contributions presented during the proposed NATO ARW are foreseen to be published in the NATO ASI series since books with the current state of Mössbauer spectrometry in material research are missing on the market.
Travel:
  • Congress Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences Smolenice Castle is located in Smolenice, about 45 km eastwards from Bratislava (map).
  • A conference bus will take participants from Bratislava to Smolenice on Saturday June 1, 2002 (expected departure from Bratislava: 14:00), and back on Friday, June 7 (expected arrival in Bratislava: 14:30). The exact bus stops and times of departure will be announced later.
Travel by air:
  • The airport in Bratislava is rather small and there are only few regular flights to/from destinations abroad (e.g. to/from Moscow; we advise participants from Russia to fly directly to Bratislava).
  • The best way to reach Bratislava from most destinations is via Vienna, which is located only about 60 km from Bratislava. The airport of Vienna, Wien-Schwechat, is only about 45 km from Bratislava.
  • There is a regular bus service between the Vienna International Airport and Bratislava.
